Yes, but the software you need is free and can be found on the internet.  We have provided you with the links to all the software you need to download.

Can I access My Accounts from any computer that has an Internet connection?

Yes, because My Accounts is a server-based solution and not dependent on software, you can access it anywhere, any time, from any computer connected to the Internet.

Does My Accounts use cookies?

Yes. If you do not have cookies enabled on your computer, you will not be able to use all of the My Accounts functionality. A cookie is simply a text file that indicates your My Personal ID or session identification number. We use this cookie to identify existing users of the service when they enter the Web site, so that we are able to pre-fill your My Personal ID and provide a start page optimized for you. We also use a cookie to maintain session information for logged-in users, to prevent the need for re-entry of login information when browsing the site.

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your machine that are sent to the Web server that created them when you visit a page on the server. My Accounts uses cookies for two purposes:

  • To remember your My Personal ID so it can be pre-filled in the form for sign in when you visit the site

  • To remember your session ID, which we use to track your individual user information while you're logged in so you can move through the My Accounts site more easily

Cookies are required for using the service -- without them, we can't deliver your user information effectively.

To enable cookies in Netscape first select "Edit" from your toolbar, then select in this order: Preferences, Advanced, then select either "Accept all cookies" or "Accept only cookies that get sent back to originating server."

To enable cookies in Internet Explorer, first select "Tools" from your toolbar, then select in this order: Internet Options, Security, Custom Level then scroll down to Cookies and select "Enable."

Is there a way to let my browser accept cookies only from My Accounts, and not unsolicited others?

Yes, there is:

    In Internet Explorer

  1. Click on Tools / Internet Options / Security.
  2. Click on the Internet icon and choose "Custom Level."
  3. Scroll down the Cookies options and select "Disable" to allow cookies that are stored on your computer and allow permission cookies. Hit OK.
  4. Click on the Trusted Sites icon and then the Custom level button.
  5. Select the Cookies options, and select. Enable for both cookie options. Hit OK.
  6. Click on the Sites button. Add My Accounts to the zone. Hit OK.
  7. Hit OK to dismiss the options dialog.

    In Netscape

  1. Click on Edit/Preferences/Advanced.
  2. Click "Accept only cookies that get sent back to originating server."

What is JavaScript and what is it used for on My Accounts?

JavaScript is a scripting language that is used for enabling many of the advanced features on the My Accounts site, such as Auto-Login and pre-filling My Accounts IDs. Some of the JavaScript features we use require support for the Document Object Model, which is only supported in the most recent versions of the major browsers (Netscape 4 and later, Internet Explorer 4 and later). Because of this, we highly recommend the use of Netscape or Internet Explorer 4 or greater to fully utilize the features of My Accounts.

If you have JavaScript disabled in your Web browser, you should enable it before using My Accounts. In Netscape, this setting is located under Preferences by clicking on "Advanced." In Internet Explorer, this setting is located under the Internet Options, under the Security tab (you can select "Custom Level" to access the option to enable "Active Scripting" without modifying the rest of your security settings).

Does My Accounts support the Macintosh platform?

My Accounts currently requires a browser that supports SSL (at least 40 bit), JavaScript 1.2, and cookies in order to use all the features available. We recommend using an officially supported browser, such as Netscape 4.0 or greater, or Internet Explorer 4.0 or later with 128-bit encryption. My Accounts does not currently support Microsoft Internet Explorer on the Macintosh. We are working hard to support all major browsers.
